Opus Motor Group has raised almost £20,000 for Teenage Cancer Trust
Last year, the dealer group which operates Kia, Harley-Davidson, Nesmo Vehicle Conversions and a Subway franchise across the north-east, pledged its support to the charity for the second year.
Initial fundraising was started in 2018, with all members of staff being given a tube of smarties to eat and then replenish with 20p pieces. Each full tube amounting to £12,
enough to cover the cost of overnight accommodation for a relative or friend needing to stay at the charity’s units, based at The Great North Children’s Hospital, and The Freeman Hospital in Newcastle.
Sohail Khan, managing director of Opus Motor Group, said: “We are delighted to have been able to support such a great, charity for the last two years. The care and support that they provide to young people with cancer in the local area is outstanding”.
The presentation took place at Stockton Kia’s dealership on Concorde Way in Stockton-On-Tees where managing director Sohail Khan, General Manager Steven Flack and PA to the managing director, Bev Stephenson, handed a cheque for the sum of £5,150.56 (from 2019 fundraising) to Sonia Graham, Relationship Manager at Teenage Cancer Trust.
Sonia added: “What an amazing two-year partnership we have had which has raised an incredible amount of money and awareness for young people with cancer. Teenage Cancer Trust nurses, support teams and special hospital wards help young people cope with some unimaginably hard times. But without companies like Opus Motor Group, these specialist services would simply not be there –and we can’t thank their teams and customers enough for supporting our charity.”
Stockton Kia sells the new Kia model line-up, in addition to offering a range of quality approved used cars, a Motability service, and a range of aftersales facilities, including service, MOT and genuine parts and accessories.
